Mudsill Privacy Policy

Effective 26 October 2026

Mudsill is a construction daily log app. You fill in your log by typing or by recording a short voice note. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes and how long it is kept.

Short Version

  • No account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
  • Your logs, photos and company details stay on your phone.
  • A voice note is sent to our server only to turn it into text. The audio is not kept after that.
  • We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

1. Data That Stays on Your Phone

Your projects, daily logs, photos, company name and logo are stored only on your device. We cannot see them. If you uninstall the app or use Settings > Delete all data, they are gone. PDF reports you export are shared only where you choose to send them.

2. Voice Notes

When you record a voice note, the app sends the audio, your role (for example "Foreman"), the project name and the crew and equipment names from your previous log to our server. This helps the speech-to-text get trade words and names right.

Our server (Supabase, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany) passes:

  • the audio to OpenAI, which turns it into text, and
  • that text to Anthropic, which sorts it into the fields of your log.

Both companies process the data under their API terms. Those terms do not allow them to use it to train their models. They may keep it for a limited time (typically up to 30 days) to detect abuse, then delete it.

The resulting text is sent back to your phone. Our server does not store the audio, the transcript or your log.

3. Data Our Server Keeps

To give you free notes, enforce fair-use limits and stop abuse, our server keeps:

  • a random app ID created on your phone (it starts with "sn_"; it is not linked to your name, email or device identifiers),
  • how many free notes that ID has used and how many minutes of voice notes it recorded each month,
  • the time and IP address of each voice-note request.

Request records (time and IP address) are deleted automatically after 30 days. Monthly minute counts are kept for 13 months.

4. Subscriptions

Purchases are handled by Google Play. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your app ID and your purchase details from Google Play. We never see your card details.

5. Weather

When you tap the weather button, the app asks for your approximate location and sends it, rounded to about 10 km, to Open-Meteo to get the day's weather. Open-Meteo does not need an account and we do not store the location.

6. Crash Reports and Usage Counts

To fix bugs and see whether the app is useful, the app may send:

  • crash reports (Sentry): the error, device model and Android version, and
  • usage events (PostHog): which screens and actions were used, such as "voice note recorded" or "PDF exported", with your app ID.

These never include the content of your logs, photos, voice notes or company details.

7. Your Choices

  • You can use every logging feature without voice notes. Typed logs never leave your phone.
  • You can deny microphone or location permission at any time in Android settings.
  • Settings > Delete all data erases everything on your phone.
  • To have the server records linked to your app ID deleted, email us with the ID shown in Settings and we will delete them within 30 days.

8. Children

Mudsill is a work tool for adults and is not directed at children under 16.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Important changes will also be shown in the app.
